Pro - Airfield Petition
Northrepps has had an Airfield serving the local community for 39 yrs. 2 years ago it was decided to move the airfield from its existing site 2 fields over. As a result of having larger a facility a school was formed, the club was resurrected and eating facilities put on site. This year we held a charity day which raised nearly £5000 for the air ambulance and an airfield open day for locals to come and have a free flight along the coast. Over 60 flights took place that day and everyone had a fantastic time. We also have provided landing facilities for royalty and the RAF, Army and air ambulance use us regularly for training.
A campaign led by a local land owner Simon Gurney is to get the airfield shut down. Bearing in mind the airfield was previously on Simon Gurneys land. The Local Council have not had 1 noise complaint this year and the airfield only received 4 in total 2 of which were Simon Gurney. Local councillors are also in favour of the airfield remaining.
We have now had a response from Cllr Graham Jones. He quotes in a letter
"I am Not seeking to close the airfield or ban flying”.
We apologise to Cllr Jones for saying he was leading the campaign, this was incorrect, it was information supplied by the anti-airfield campaigners.
